Hemphill Treehouse for Grown-Ups is Firm Calling Card...

After forming mc2 Design, architect Marco Carlos Tardio, M Arch
'89, and Mary Clare DeReuil, ID '91, went out on an entrepreneurial limb.

They found a sliver of land in Home Park, near Georgia Tech, that amounted to a drainage ditch tapering into a catch basin. Not surprisingly, they were able to buy it at a very reasonable price. The slender, triangular plot wedged between the shady lanes of Hemphill Avenue and Curran Street, has one aesthetically redeeming feature: tall, majestic trees. Tardio and DeReuil (pronounced DeRell) built a lofty, two-story treehouse.
